Southern Lakes
Sanctuary
Southern Lakes Sanctuary is one of Aotearoa’s most ambitious predator control projects, working to restore balance to the landscapes of Queenstown, Wānaka and Fiordland. Their mission is to protect and revive the region’s unique wildlife- from endangered birds and bats to rare alpine species, by reducing threats from introduced predators.
Through large-scale collaboration with iwi, landowners, community groups and volunteers, the Sanctuary is creating safe havens where native species can thrive again. Every trap set, every hectare protected, brings us closer to a predator-free future.
Your donation helps fund vital conservation work on the ground: predator control, monitoring, community engagement, and the protection of some of New Zealand’s most iconic and vulnerable species. Together, we can return the sounds of native birdsong to the Southern Lakes.
